A certified mostly-tarmac loop with a controlled off-road section showcasing the drylands, the Kwa Maingi Dam, and the Rain Corridor.

Through the town centre. Water point and aid station.

Syongila Junction
~9 KM
Route waypoint. Marshal point and direction change.

Unyaa / Kwa Maingi
~13 KM
Primary School and Dam. Off-road section and Rain Corridor.

Ithookwe Airstrip
~17 KM
Turnaround point. Return leg to stadium begins here.

Race Day Logistics

  • Race briefing at 5:30 AM at Kitui Stadium
  • Bag drop closes at 5:45 AM — no exceptions
  • Water and aid points every ~4 KM along route
  • Medical staff at Syongila, Kwa Maingi, and Ithookwe
  • Course sweeper vehicle for all participants
  • Finish line closes at time TBA (AK cut-off)

Course Conditions

  • Primarily tarmac road — approximately 80% of route
  • Controlled off-road between Unyaa and Ithookwe
  • Flat to gently undulating terrain
  • Altitude: approximately 1,160 m above sea level
  • Expected start temp: 18–22°C (early morning)
  • Full course certified by Athletics Kenya
